Dear ladies and gentlemen,
Dear company representatives and entrepreneurs,
Dear friends and supporters of German-Indian cooperation,
It is my great honor and pleasure to lead this year’s delegation trip to India. Together with a group of company representatives, experts and scientists from North Rhine-Westphalia, I am looking forward to discovering the vast potential of India’s rapidly developing economy and to identifying new fields of common interest.
No doubt, India is on the move. The highest economic growth rates of all major economies, a large and increasingly well-educated young population and a strong IT sector make India an attractive place to do business. Also in fields where India traditionally faced challenges, such as infrastructure, energy supply and tax system, great improvements have been achieved in recent years. It was not without reason that India leapfrogged again 23 places to 77th rank in the World Bank’s 2018 Ease of Doing Business Index.
My home state, North Rhine-Westphalia, is famous for its strong industrial base but also for its innovative power. It is our state’s particular strength to connect our leading industrial competencies in the machinery sector, but also in chemicals, steel, pharma, automotive supply, health, life sciences and energy with the research landscape of “4.0”. Our state’s researchers focus on all the key topics of digital transformation, ranging from Big Data, Industry 4.0, Cyber Physical Systems, Smart City, IT-security and IoT to robotics.
Especially in the combination of North Rhine-Westphalia’s expertise in engineering and production and India’s strong IT sector, I see great potential for successful cooperation. Moreover, India’s ambitious plans to increase the share of renewable energy in the energy mix, upgrade existing conventional energy generation and improve energy efficiency may create good opportunities for joint projects.
This brochure provides an overview of the different experts and entrepreneurs from North Rhine-Westphalia participating in the delegation trip to India. Please take the opportunity to get in touch for an exchange of ideas and for identifying areas for mutually beneficial cooperation.
With warm regards,
