Our state, North Rhine-Westphalia, is by far the largest in Germany – in terms of population – and possesses the highest concentration of university and research establishments in Europe. We aim to become the most dynamic start-up location in the heart of Europe. That is why we chose Silicon Valley, the world’s leading start-up region, as our destination – to learn from the best.
The twelve young entrepreneurs who accompany us will immerse themselves in one of the liveliest start-up ecosystems in the world and establish valuable contacts for their entrepreneurial future on an international level.
These companies are briefly introduced in this brochure. All of them are based in our state, North Rhine-Westphalia, which is home to one of the most dynamic start-up scenes in Germany.
Many start-ups in the fields of ICT, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, cleantech and energy are among the best and most innovative companies in the world. The advantage of North Rhine-Westphalia is the perfect combination of highly efficient and creative start-ups and a strong industrial base with established industrial companies that act as customers, partners and investors of the start-ups.
During their six-day stay, the North Rhine-Westphalian companies will receive comprehensive information about the US market, visit successful German companies on site, are guests at Stanford University and have the unique opportunity to present their business models to selected American venture capital investors. At this pitch event on 13 September 2018, they will receive direct feedback on their ideas and plans – a particularly exciting part of the programme! We look forward to a lively mutual exchange and wish all participants interesting meetings, stimulating discussions and much success with new contacts.
